OH why are they effing with my childhood?
American Greetings unveiled the all-new Strawberry Shortcake today. Looks like girlfriend got a blowout, lost those bloomers (plus a few pounds), and, according to the following article, trades in her cat, Custard for a hip cellphone. Apparently Scooby Do, Bugs Bunny and Care Bears are next. They better not touch Jem!! She was ruly outrageous just the way she was!

This makes me kind of sad.
1I am new here. Am I allowed to post on anyones blog?
The moment I read the first sentence of your blog I thought...THEY BETTER NOT TOUCH JEM!
lol took the words right out of my mouth.
And a CELL PHONE?!?!!? Strawberry shortcake is a consumer wh*re!!! and she's like...8 years old!!!!!! wtf?!!?!!?!?
2I saw this as well. Can't believe it. Haven't they heard the saying, "If it isn't broke, don't fix it"!!!
3No kidding. What are they going to do to the Care Bears? How could they possibly update them? Give them lipo and ipods or something?
4Why can't this new chick in town be Strawberry's Cousin or something? Make a new darn character! She looks more like those awful Bratz dolls than anything...
5Yeah, Bratz dolls are total hoochie-mamas
6At least she didn't go blond.
7That is funny, GirlC.
I personally don't have a problem with the update, I guess. But I didn't watch her as a kid. My daughter loves her now. I haven't noticed the cell phones, yet, though.
8Kinda sad about it
I thought they already had a somewhat updated version that was just fine!
9I know this is kind of old, but it makes me so sad to see her like that. She was my IDOL when I was a little girl. Now she looks like every other hoochified girl toy. GirlC is right - at least she didn't go blonde.
