About Us

Four years ago our grandchildren were born. We did what most grandmothers do best; we went shopping. It quickly became our favorite sport. We wanted to gather all of the finest treasures that baby boutiques and shopping malls had to offer. We wanted our baby's name on everything. But to our great dismay, nothing totally pleased us. Nothing was perfect enough for our babies and most things were not available for personalization.

Denise, the co-founder of the Miami Children's Museum, insisted on creativity and fine craftsmanship. She wanted her grandson Nate to be surrounded by one-of-a-kind plush stuffed animals and covered with soft, beautifully woven blankets. She wanted his baby pictures to be displayed in decoupaged frames and saved in handmade photo albums. She wanted creations by artists that would stimulate his mind and delight his senses.

Roz, an interior designer, was particular about color and design. She searched for baby accessories in the perfect color combinations to complement her grandchildren's rooms. She wanted custom teddy bears and cuddly bunnies that would match the sage green and Wedgwood blue of Michael's nursery. She dreamed about area rugs and pillows that would coordinate with Kate's lavender, aqua and raspberry floral crib bumper. She looked for accessories featuring trucks and fire engines in the primary colors of Eric's room.

However, what we wanted for our babies did not exist locally, and thus we began our country-wide quest. We hunted for the softest, most durable woven blankets, testing them to make sure they could be embroidered with our baby's name and birth date. We discovered a cuddly striped bunny whose long floppy ears were a perfect spot for a baby's name. We found a washable terrycloth pancake bear with a plush security blanket in its back pocket - another great location for an embroidered name.

And then we were stuck. As wonderful as these products were, they were only available in standard colors. We still had to find a way to create custom baby accessories.

We began canvassing craft shows from Maine to Florida seeking artisans with modern ideas and old-fashioned work standards - talented people who would help us create the one-of-a-kind teddy bear and baby block, the handmade photo album, the unique blanket, the customized hand-hooked area rug and anything else our imaginations could conjure up.

Luckily, we found our answers.

Skilled craftsmen are still creating handmade products throughout the small towns of our country. Men and women are working out of spare rooms and small studios, happily producing beautiful one-of-a-kind baby accessories in any color for our baby and yours. And yes, everything can be personalized.
