Has anyone had any experience with getting through security with a cooler full of baby food cubes? I am wondering how they treat ice packs. The ice packs I use are technically gels.
Also, I am going to bring a small cooler full of homemade baby food cubes. I've read TSA's site on what is allowed.
They say "processed" baby foods. I wonder if they'd have a problem with homemade processed food or do they mean "processed by the big food companies" and in a sealed jar.

Hmm, wish I was more help on this one. When I flew earlier this year, they gave us crap at the terminal in Mexico because I had some bottled water to mix with formula. They weren't going to let us bring it. My husband made this big stink and I was terrified they were gonna throw us in a room and make us miss the flight or something! But they eventually let us take it on. I would probably suggest to just bring the Gerber jars that are sealed.
1bluesuze, my daughter is now 7 years and she as always traveled with us since she was 29 months. We took Nestle jar of processed food with us with no problem.
My advise to you though is that you contact your travel agent or flight operator and explain that your traveling with a baby and they should be able to advise you on this matter and/or make an arrangement regarding your baby's meals on board.
Hope this help you. Pls. came back to tell me how it went.
2I would just use ice and not the gels because they are chemicals and the airline might get dicey about that, as far as homemade baby food just put them in little tupperwares that are labeled as to what they are, if they want to search, so what then, right? Your not doing anything wrong, just bringing on ice, food and a cooler.... no biggie.
3Hoops!! I meant GirlC
4I agree with eu and contact your travel agent (if you have one), or call the airline directly and see what they say. It's so hard because the rules seem to vary airport by airport sometimes with regards to what is okay and what isn't! Will you let us know what you decide to do and what happens GirlC? Thanks!
5It won't be a while before I know. I'm not traveling until Christmas but my Type A personality has me prepping already!
