I ran into a friend this weekend, who's about 7 months pregnant. I asked her how everything was going, and she said "fine", but then I found out that a friend of hers just gave birth, and named her son the name her and her husband picked out for the name of their baby.
They kept the name top secret - nobody knew the name, including her friend, but she was still very disapointed.
Has anyone ever taken your (future) baby name, either intentionally or not?

All of my friends were older so they didn't need my baby's name. However, the ladies I work with keep the names hidden. I understand why. That would be a terrible thing to do (take someone's name).
1Yes! I had told an acquaintance that if we were having a girl we were going to name her Harley, well the "friend" beat me to it. Luckily, we had a boy but that didn't stop me from steaming!
2No, our children's names are pretty traditional and after their grandparents.
3If I thought of something creative, I'd be upset. I would be fuming if I shared a name in confidence and they took it, but if it is a coincidence- what can you say! If I had my heart set on a name, I wouldn't care much.
No but i've had family(one on my side and one on my husband's)and a friend take my first name.........

5No it's not at all they just liked the name. Yes,I was asked if i minded if they took my name for their kids and of course it didn't bother me at all .Actually it was a compliment that they liked it so much.

7Yes...when I was pregnant and married to my first husband I swore I was having a girl and referred to the baby as "Katie"....when I gave birth it was a boy!!!! We tried a couple of years later once again for our "Katie" but the marriage was a bad one and ended. Two years later the ex was remarried, had a daughter and named her "Katie"......now I think you see what kind of guy he was!!!

9kind of! There was a girl i went to school w/ that decided that she like my name. It was the normal everyday thing for me.. but then she decided to name her daughter that... I was thrown back alittle but was settled when she told me that she was going to spell it different ( ive met numerous stormy's no big deal due to they all spell their names different) come to find out she liked the way my name was spelled so she decided to use that! i wasnt too fond of this girl to begin w/ .. but life goes on

11No one has taken my son's name, Nyx. But when it comes to names I am pretty secretive. I'm not even pregnant, yet, and I have a huge gut feeling I'm having a little girl. So I have her name planned out. I've come up with some pretty amazing names when I was pregnant with my son, both girls and boys name, and I swear nearly all the ones that I wsa considering were taken from me. Grrr. So when I found Nyx I told NO ONE! lol.
