My almost 2 yr old daughter is sick, and I'm sick too so I don't have my usual patience with her.
She is an already picky eater and I can't get her to eat anything... Except cookies!!! This is horrible!! What do I do? The kid is constantly begging for chocolate and cookies and that's all she'll eat except for some crackers and cheese she had earlier. Everything else gets thrown around and she cries and throws big tantrums...
Oh, the tantrums... They are bugging the hell out of me. Every time she falls she cries this big drama cry, if you say no to her it's the same thing, if you're doing something and cant have her on your lap she throws this huge tantrum.
It's so weird when her daddy is around and she starts he just says "Hey hey hey" and she stops but she wont listen to me for the life of her. I find myself yelling and then she just laughs and carries on or has a huge tantrum.
I guess I really needed to vent, and if anyone has any advice, that would be welcomed....
Vero Moda
I have absolutely no advice for you, as I'm still in angelic 11-month old mode, but I do hope you both feel better and that you're able to retain some bit of patience and sanity.
1Oh my God.. 'sick annoying toddler' is the story of my life right now! Not to mention, every time he gets sick, I get sick! Like right now
He does the same exact stuff.. constant tempter tantrums (today he threw the BIGGEST tantrum EVER because I wouldn't let him touch broken GLASS!!!) hitting, kicking, HEAD BUTTING, spitting all over the kitchen table, says NO to everything.. Blahhhhhhhhhhhh.
2Awe - it sounds like you really are frustrated. I would ask Daddy to take charge while I worked on getting better. If that is not possible due to work or what not - what about a family member or friend.
I just got over the sam ething with our daughter. We did a lot of laying around on the couch together and I pretty much let her pick the tv, books and music. What ever helped her relax.
Just remember it is only temporary. You will both feel better soon!
3Oh and according to our Dr the tantrums are normal.
Baby Girl is 15 months and loves to tighten up every muscle in her body and lay on the ground - while screaming when she doesn't get what she wants. It happens - normal.
4Yeah Keira does the same thing - laying on the ground and screaming. Daddy is working nights so I am left here to deal on my own! Probably that she doesn't eat is what bothers me the most because I'm worried she isn't eating enough. Yesterday she kept spitting water everywhere and laughing!!! She wouldn't listen and stop-- just kept going!! She's the most energetic sick person I ever seen in my whole life! I gave her some children's benadryl and even that didn't slow her down much...
5My coz got sick at school then came home all well and still made a mess. I don't think kids can be controlled anymore.
6are you using any baby pain reliever? i don't remember any of mine being fussy when sick (barely missed a beat) unless they were in pain. sometimes not eating means ear infection (hurts to swallow) or sinus infection (choice is either to eat or breath since the nose is clogged). maybe only favorites are worth swallowing for.
7My husband works evenings too - so I feel for you. It can be very frustrating when the typically well behaved child starts acting so abnormal.
I hope you both feel better soon.
8Good call lickety - we did yogurt, mashed potatoes and jello teh whole time Baby Girl was sick. All of her favs.
9Well cookies contain all the nutrients that kids need. Let her eat cookies (cut back on the choco) and relax. Once you both feel better you'll be more willing to try new recipes.
